Henry wrote up a summary of the boston race:

In the time trials we did pretty well. Our heats were back to back so I couldn't really see how the WakeRiders did but it looked like they held pretty even with MAD for most of the race. DrachenFurie wound up racing the Jade Dragons (a good team from Montreal). We lost our first heat by about 2 seconds and our second heat by about 6, but we ran pretty good races both times. 9th Dragons won both of their heats on Saturday edging slightly ahead of Earnst & Young both times and managed to make it into Division B.

It was really nice to see us not completely shoot ourselves in the foot on the first race of the day; that's traditionally always been a problem for us. (One year at Montreal one of the strokes actually fell out of her seat on the first race - just too much nerves or something.)

So at the end of Saturday the standings were something like this:

Jade Dragons
DrachenFurie
MAD
LRBD-1
Harvard-1
Liason
WakeRiders
26 other teams

Sunday was a gorgeous day weather-wise, and we got to sleep in a bit thanks to our strong performance on Saturday. In the first round of racing the WakeRiders were neck and neck with MAD for most of the race until MAD managed to pull away at the end, while DrachenFurie pretty
easily managed to beat... uh... I dunno. Some teams. DrachenFurie also managed to post the best time of all the teams in this round of racing, granting us the lofty number 1 seed for the next round.

As is befitting true professional athletes, the WakeRiders then had to make an appearance at the "sponsors race" where they carried the standards of their corporate masters to glorious victory.

(We love you Boston Bank and Trust Company!)

Anyway, back to the action. The next round of races saw WakeRiders and DrachenFurie matched up against MAD. I'm not sure if the WakeRiders were tired from all that flag carrying or if they came out rating too high or what, but they had a pretty big drop off time wise (2:38, down
from about 2:30 in the first round). DrachenFurie was just edged out by mad, losing by .06 seconds.

This put MAD, DrachenFurie and the Jade Dragons into the "A major finals" while LRDB, Liason and the WakeRiders were in the "A minor finals". The WakeRiders recovered from their not-as-good previous race to post a team best time of... uh... 2:28? 2:26? Something like that.
It was really good. =) They were neck and neck with LRDB's first team until right near the end, when LRDB managed to edge them out and land them in fifth place.

In the A major finals DrachenFurie ran a "pretty-good-but-not-great" race (sorry, but it's true) and wound up losing to MAD by 1.5 seconds. It looked to most people like we came in third, but due to the finish line being angled (to compensate for the river curving) we were actually in second place, barely ahead of the Canadians. The $20 I slipped the race offical probably didn't hurt either.

Anyway, I had more fun this year than I've ever had at a race. Thanks to everyone for their hard work and I'll see you guys at practice on TUESDAY. (No days off. Thanks Rachel!)
