DBCB at Set Sail 2010

The Dragon Boat Club of Boston has been asked by the Spaulding Rehabilitation Hospital to take part of their "Set Sail" event on Sunday, September 26th from 1pm to 4pm. This event benefits the Dr. Charles H. Weingarten Adaptive Sports and Recreation Program at the hospital. The program allows their patients to get out of the hospital and into canoes, kayaks, windsurfs, bikes and other recreational vehicles through the use of adaptive equipment. Many of the patients have disabilities that would otherwise prevent them from enjoying these sports; however, with the help of The Weingarten Adaptive Sports Program, activities that were once only accessible for able-bodied people are now being designed in a way that disabled people can enjoy them as well. More info on the event can be found at: http://www.spauldingrehab.org/supportourwork/donorevents/setsail2010
The event attendees will be signing up for half-hour sessions on the boats, where they can either just take a ride or try paddling. We plan to hold practice on Sunday morning as scheduled on the 26th, however practice will end earlier at 11:30am. At that point, we will dock back at the Hatch Shell and collect extra supplies from the locker. Those who will be joining to volunteer at the Spaulding event will then paddle the boat to the Spaulding docks to arrive there by noon. Spaulding will be providing free lunch courtesy of Redbones BBQ.
If you would like to help out by paddling or helping out at the sign up table, please RSVP using the following doodle link:

Thanks and see you on the water,
