Montreal Race 2007 Write-up

What a FANTASTIC experience this weekend was!! There are just a countless number of stories to share about the Montreal festival this year, everything from the road trips to the races, which had quality moments full of humor, fun and team bonding. I'm especially proud of how DBCB and Harvard Dudley performed together and the camaraderie we displayed. Here's a quick summary of our race results:

Saturday's time trials consisted of two 500m heats with 6 teams competing in each heat. Boston Fusion pulled times of 2:19.29 and 2:21.18 in their first and second heats; while DrachenFurie pulled times of 2:15.11 and 2:20.29. Using the faster time of the two heats per team, the overall rankings after Saturday's time trials placed DrachenFurie at 61st and Boston Fusion at 100th out of 132 mixed teams. The festival then placed us in different divisions based on the times: Boston Fusion would compete in the Open Mix Rookie Division Final C and DrachenFurie in the Open Mix Intermediate Division Final D.

The Sunday schedule this year presented a significant change from years prior as the festival made the first races of the day the 500m finals...yup, no kidding, racing for placement between 7:45 and 8:30 am on a Sunday was undoubtedly challenging however true to form, our teams won medals!!!! YEAH!!!!!!

Boston Fusion won a bronze medal in their 500m final with a time of 2:22.04 after the BMO First Dragons (2:18.21) and LRDB Team-1 (2:21.08). DrachenFurie won the gold medal in their 500m final with a time of 2:16.28, edging out the Glogarn Cyclones (2:17.26) and Xtreme NY (2:18.08). The festival then ran the 250m finals in the same divisions with each team racing against the same competition as in the 500m finals. Boston Fusion came through with another bronze medal win (1:07.06) behind the BMO First Dragons (1:06.09) and LRDB Team-1 (1:06.25). DrachenFurie ran a good 250m race but came in second by fractions of a second (1:04.19) behind Xtreme NY (1:04.13).

All in all, an amazing race weekend...one that we'll be talking about for a while. Big hugs and handshakes all around!!!

CONGRATULATIONS DBCB and Harvard Dudley!!!!!!
